Mission Statement: To ensure that fretted musical instruments remain functional and playable and that the skill level in playing them is increased. Furthermore we aim to promote the understanding of instrument making and it’s craft. We enable musical instruments to serve their purpose of making music by performing maintenance and repairs to promote optimum playability. Utilizing qualified instructors, we enable musical learning through individual and group lessons and classes. Knowledge of the instrument making craft is imparted to those that desire to learn in accessible and affordable instrument-making classes and specialty hands-on workshops. Specialized techniques learned from around the world are not kept secret but instead openly shared.

J Michael Lutherie offers specialty maintenance and repair services for fretted and non-fretted stringed musical instruments. Luthier services and repairs are performed on acoustic, electric, classical, and archtop guitars, electric and acoustic basses, mandolins, banjos, ukuleles, dulcimers and members of the viol family. Services offered include string changes, playability setups, , refretting, fret dressing, crack repairs neck break repairs, bridge replacement, refinishing, custom and inlay work.

Jay Michael is also certified by Buzz Feiten Design, Inc. to retrofit the innovative Buzz Feiten Tuning System® intonation method on electric, acoustic and classical guitars.
